Job summary

Advocate Health in Charlotte, NC seeks an experienced Medical Assistant to support patient visits and rooming duties. You will perform vital signs, histories, screenings, and assist clinicians with procedures in a fast-paced outpatient setting.

You will also manage phlebotomy, specimen handling, vaccines, and basic lab testing under CLIA approvals while ensuring accurate documentation and patient safety. AHA BLS is required along with strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or structured military training in lieu of a program.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to Medical Assistant scope of practice and completes competency training.
• Performs rooming tasks: vital signs, med reconciliation, medical history, screenings.
• Assists provider with procedures and may perform them as ordered.
• Performs lab duties: venipuncture, specimen handling, POCT per standing orders, CLIA-waived tests.
• Administers medications and vaccines following safety rules.
• Handles referrals, insurance authorizations, and scheduling as needed.
• Demonstrates effective communication and teamwork; escalates as appropriate.
• Maintains clean work area and ensures equipment is stocked and functional.
• May assist with training or onboarding of teammates.
• Age-specific care knowledge and documentation per department standards.
