Job summary

CommonSpirit Health in Nebraska City seeks an Advanced Medical Assistant to support clinicians and elevate patient care. You will manage electronic medical records, perform ancillary tasks, and follow physician instructions with keen attention to detail.

The role requires ABHES- or CAAHEP-accredited training and CMA certification, plus Basic Life Support. Sign-on bonus and educational assistance are available for eligible new hires.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of ABHES- or CAAHEP-accredited medical assisting program.
  • Program included externship is preferred.
  • Must obtain CMA/CCMA/MA credentials upon hire as applicable.
  • Certification options listed may be considered.
  • BLS certification required upon hire.

Responsibilities

  • Perform general patient care following clinic workflows.
  • Greet and prepare patients, record vitals, review allergies/medications, complete screening questionnaires, and document visit reason.
  • Document in EMR all aspects of care with physician present.
  • Collect and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis.
  • Prepare and provide medications and/or vaccines to patients.
  • Clean and sterilize instruments.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As an Advanced Medical Assistant (AMA), you will be an indispensable clinical partner, elevating patient care and optimizing physician efficiency through advanced support. Every day, you will expertly manage clinical documentation within the Electronic Medical Record (EMR), accurately perform ancillary healthcare services, and execute specific physician instructions, ensuring precise and efficient patient visits. To be successful in this role, you will combine advanced clinical proficiency with exceptional attention to detail, a strong aptitude for electronic health records, and a proactive approach to supporting high-quality patient care.

  • Performs general patient care following established clinic workflows.
  • Greets and prepares patients for the health care provider by obtaining and recording vital signs, reviewing drug allergies and current medications, completing applicable screening questionnaires and documenting reason for visit.
  • Accompany the physician into the exam room for the patient visit documenting in the electronic medical record (EMR) all aspects of care including, but not limited to, chief complaint, history of presenting illness, physical exam and patient plan as directed by the physician.
  • Collects and prepares ordered specimens for laboratory analysis.
  • Prepares and provides ordered medications and/or vaccines to patients.
  • Cleans and sterilizes instruments.

We are offering up to $4,800 as a Sign-on Bonus as well as up to $8,000 in Educational Assistance to new hires who meet the eligibility requirements.

Job Requirements

Required

  • Graduate of medical assisting program accredited by Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) or Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education (CAAHEP), upon hire and
  • Programs accredited by other credentialed bodies may be considered if program included formal externship, upon hire and
  • Medication Aide: NE, within 90 Days and
  • Certified Clinical Medical Assistant, upon hire or
  • Certified Medical Assistant AAMA, upon hire or
  • Certified Medical Assistant NHA, upon hire or
  • National Certified Medical Assistant NCCT, upon hire or
  • National Registered/Certified Medical Assistant NAHP, upon hire or
  • Registered Medical Assistant AMT, upon hire or
  • Registered Medical Assistant, upon hire or
  • Cert Med Asst - MMCI, upon hire and
  • Basic Life Support - CPR, upon hire
Preferred
  • Medical assistant experience and
  • High School Graduate or equivalent, upon hire
