Summary
The Advanced Level Medical Support Assistant (MSA) position serves as a clinic clerk and is a foundational role within Tennessee Valley Healthcare System (TVHS).
Duties
This is an OPEN CONTINUOUS ANNOUNCEMENT and will remain open until September 30, 2025. The initial cut-off date for referral of eligible applications will be May 1, 2025. Eligible applications received after that date will be referred at regular intervals or as additional vacancies occur on an as-needed basis until positions are filled.

Pay: Competitive salary and regular salary increases
Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time off per year (including leave, sick leave, and holidays). Selected applicants may qualify for credit toward annual leave accrual, based on prior work or military service experience.
Parental Leave: After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave for birth, adoption, or foster care placement.
Child Care Subsidy: After 60 days of employment, full-time employees with family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a subsidy up to 25% of childcare costs, up to a maximum of $416.66/month.
Retirement: Federal pension (vesting in 5 years) and federal 401K with up to 5% VA contributions.

Qualifications

Basic Requirements
Grade Determinations: GS-06
In addition to the basic requirements, one year of experience at GS-05 level is required, including duties like scheduling, answering phones, and relaying messages. Candidates must demonstrate knowledge, skills, and abilities such as teamwork, organization, communication, knowledge of healthcare processes, policies, and medical terminology.
Physical Requirements: Sedentary work with some walking, standing, bending, and carrying light items. Work may be stressful during peak hours.
