Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical discipline.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in process engineering with coating or deposition in manufacturing.
  • Proficiency in DOE methodologies and SPC; fluency in Minitab or JMP required.
  • Working knowledge of coating materials: inks, conformal coatings, or functional polymer films.
  • Experience with coating validation testing: adhesion tests, thickness measurement, reliability tests.
  • Strong analytical and data interpretation skills; clear communication to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience writing engineering documentation: FMEAs, control plans, qualification reports, and work instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Lead development and optimization of coating processes for connector and substrate applications.
  • Design, execute, and analyze DOE to optimize key process parameters.
  • Apply SPC to monitor variation; establish control charts and drive continuous improvement.
  • Use Minitab or JMP for data analysis, capability studies, regression modeling, ANOVA, and reports.
  • Develop process FMEAs to identify critical parameters and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Define and drive process qualification plans including MSA/Gage R&R and capability studies.
  • Evaluate and qualify coating materials including conductive, dielectric, UV-cure coatings, and functional polymer films.
  • Assess material properties like viscosity, surface tension, solvents, cure chemistry, shelf life.
  • Define process equipment, fixturing, and tooling for new coatings and improvements.
  • Drive scale-up from lab to production with robustness and cost-effectiveness at volume.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and R&D to qualify new coating chemistries.
  • Some travel both domestically and internationally may be required.
