Job summary

Topeka Public Schools is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician – Carpentry/Painting/Locks. The role requires a Journeyman carpentry program or equivalent, plus a minimum of two years in finish and rough carpentry in commercial/industrial settings.

Ideal candidates will have painting and finishing experience, knowledge of safety regulations, and the ability to work from heights and in varied weather. A Kansas driver’s license with a good driving record is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Journeyman carpentry training or equivalent experience.
• Minimum two years finish/rough carpentry in commercial/industrial settings.
• Experience in painting, plastering, carpentry, flooring, and related trades.
• Valid Kansas driver’s license with a good driving record.

Responsibilities

• Receive daily assignments from the Maintenance Supervisor – Carpentry/Painting/Locks.
• Respond to work requests promptly and courteously.
• Perform maintenance and repairs to established standards and procedures.
• Install fixtures and construct/repair structures using appropriate tools.
• Assist with preventative maintenance and safety compliance.
