Job summary

Jacksonville State University is seeking a Locksmith II to perform journeyman-level tasks in repairing, resetting, and installing locking devices and manufacturing keys. This role operates independently to provide keys, locks, door hardware, or glass repairs across campus.

The position requires two years of locksmith experience with varied hardware and a start date in late September 2026; standard hours are 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on weekdays, with occasional call duties.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience as a locksmith working with a variety of hardware required.

Responsibilities

• Cuts new or duplicate keys from existing keys, pattern, and code numbers; maintains records of who keys are released to.
• Installs, maintains, adjusts, services, and recombines locks and related equipment.
• Opens locks for which there are no keys or existing combinations.
• Repairs, resets, and installs locking devices.
• Repairs doors and door glass, including electric doors and closers; reads procedures and processes work orders.
