Job summary

SGI Global is seeking seasoned Law Enforcement Instructors to provide entry-level and inservice training to the United States Capitol Police's sworn and civilian workforce. You will design, sequence, and deliver courses, ensuring alignment with departmental standards and current law enforcement practice.

Responsibilities include evaluating student performance, developing lesson plans and practical exercises, and adapting content as procedures and case law evolve.

Qualifications

• Must have completed the Federal Law Enforcement Center's (FLETC) Firearms Instructor Training Program (FITP), or equivalent.
• Must have at least 3 years experience as an instructor for a weapons training program and effectively conveying ideas verbally in an adult learning environment.
• Experience developing and executing lesson plans and practical exercises using traditional and innovative teaching methods with adult learners in a law enforcement setting.
• Preference is given to applicants with Law Enforcement Officer Firearms instructor experience as well as Glock Armorer Certification.
• Firearms instructors must be able to pass an initial firearms proficiency or qualification course of fire with an 85% score which equates to 255 points out of a possible of 300 points.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver the course materials including content, sequence, timing, presentation and instructional methodology.
• Rate and score students/ officers/ and officials and determine qualification to meet departmental standards.
• Continuously analyze training policies and other training related processes and recommend revisions.
• Research and analyze relevant case law for course content and update plan coverage and goals.
• Write and prepare lesson plans, course materials, evaluations and management recommendations precisely.
• Adjust lessons as necessary to changes in procedures and techniques.
• Evaluate and advise on students' progress by observing performance and administering tests.
• Stay current with literature and materials in training areas and assist with scheduling and record keeping.
