City of Suffolk, Virginia seeks an experienced para professional engineer with GIS expertise to support Public Works. Under general supervision, you will perform advanced GIS work, drafting, data management and field verification of stormwater features.

You will interact with developers, contractors and the public, prepare reports, review plans and assist in maintaining asset inventories and easements. A two-year degree and 3–5 years of civil engineering related experience are expected.

Qualifikationen

• Two-year college/technical school degree in civil engineering or related field with 3–5 years of relevant experience.
• Experience in civil engineering, water/sewer utilities, surveying or related areas.

Aufgaben

• Performs GIS and drafting work for Public Works and other City departments.
• Investigates complaints and assists public and consultants with locating file information and maps.
• Maintains department filing systems and records for private sites and engineering plans.
• Assists with water, sewer, stormwater and roadway facilities information for developers.
• Locates stormwater features and verifies as-builts using GPS.
• Prepares public presentations for City Council and community organizations.
• Reviews plans and easements and supports engineering staff with monitoring reports.
