Job summary

Mercy Hospital is seeking a food service team member for PRN daytime coverage at the Rehab location in Saint Louis, MO. You will prepare meals, assemble items, and ensure serving stations are ready and stocked.

You may direct others in the absence of a manager and will follow menus for accurate portions and timely service. The role emphasizes strong communication, multitasking, and attention to detail in a fast-paced hospital environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 90 days of hospital food service experience.
• ServSafe Food Handler Certificate (or State equivalent) within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and assemble meals according to menus and standards.
• Set up and break down serving stations.
• Inventory and order food and supplies per menus.
• Direct the efforts of others when manager is unavailable.

Shift: PRN/ Days

10 AM - 7 PM

Certifications: NWA: ServSafe Food Handler Certificate (or State equivalent) within 90 days of hire.

Additional Qualifications: Strong communication skills are required. The ideal candidate must be able to effectively multitask and manage several responsibilities simultaneously while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail in a fast-paced environment. The physical demands described herein are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.

Most Physical Demands Are Below, Plus

• Minimal: overhead lifting of < 35 lbs., kneeling or crouching, carrying up to 70 lbs., pinch grip, data entry.
• Occasional: Balancing on slippery surfaces, Push < 57 lbs. force, pull < 48 lbs. force.
• Frequent: lift floor to desk height of < 70 lbs.
• Continuous: gripping < 40 lbs. on both sides, hand coordination

Preferred Education

High school diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Experience

90 days of experience in hospital food service
