Job summary

Solid Waste Authority of Palm Beach County is seeking an equipment operator for the Transfer Station. You will operate front-end loaders, grapplers, compactors, backhoes and related equipment, and assist in maintenance according to operating plans.

Applicants should have at least 8th grade education and 2 years of heavy equipment experience. CDL Class A preferred. You will read and follow safety instructions, maintain records, and perform routine math for job tasks.

Qualifications

• Minimum 8th grade education.
• Two years’ experience in heavy equipment operation.
• Combination of experience, education and training acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Operates front-end loaders, stationary and mobile grapplers, compactors, backhoes and related equipment for daily transfer station operations.
• Inspects equipment before starting work and reports malfunctions; performs minor maintenance and lubrication.
• Performs manual tasks such as cleaning drainage systems and grounds; maintains records and follows safety procedures.
