Job summary

Lanteris Space Systems in Mountain View, CA is seeking an Advanced Composites Technician to manufacture Composite Components and Assemblies for internal and external customers.

You will perform complex lay-ups, manage vacuum bagging, use photogrammetry and alignment tools, read engineering drawings, and assist junior staff while maintaining high quality standards.

Qualifications

• Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• 4 years of lay-up and bonding experience.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering specifications and CMIs.
• Knowledge of standard shop measurement tools.

Responsibilities

• Perform complicated lay-ups, including those with complex tooling.
• Use special techniques to eliminate wrinkles and ensure tight lay-ups.
• Apply vacuum bagging to achieve quality parts and minimal wrinkles.
• Utilize photogrammetry, theodolites, laser projectors and software for contouring and alignment.
• Assemble and bond composite components per drawings and procedures.
• Read blueprints and generate templates for layup production.
• Assist and mentor less-experienced employees.

Please review the job details below. Lanteris Space is currently seeking an Advanced Composites Technician who is highly motivated and dedicated to join our Composites Technology team in Mountain View, CA location. In this role, you will manufacture Composite Components and Assemblies for internal and external customers.

Responsibilities

• Perform complicated lay‑ups, including lay‑ups requiring complex tooling.
• Utilize special techniques of working material to eliminate wrinkles and achieve tight compacted lay‑ups.
• Utilize complex vacuum bagging techniques to help achieve a better quality part, including vacuum bagging using pleats to insure minimal bridging and tight radius’s lay‑ups, as well as vacuum bagging with minimum bag and/or support material wrinkles for a better part appearance.
• Utilize Photogrammetry, Theodolites, Laser projectors and applicable software for contour, lay up on tool, characterization, and fixture alignment.
• Assembly & bond Composite components per engineering drawings, specifications & procedures.
• Utilize complicated blueprints, Creo, AutoCAD, generate template for layup production.
• Assist and teach less‑experienced employees.

Minimum Requirements

• Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
• High school diploma/GED equivalent
• 4 years of experience in lay‑up and bonding
• Ability to read and interpret engineering specifications and Composite Manufacturing Instructions (CMI’s).
• Knowledge of standard shop measurement tools such as scales, dial calipers and micrometers.
• Experienced in the use of equipment such as hand drills, drill presses, band saws and grinders.
• Knowledge of computers and Windows operating systems.

The successful candidate’s starting pay will fall within the salary range provided below and is determined based on job‑related factors, including, but not limited to, the experience, qualifications, knowledge, skills, geographic work location, and market conditions. Candidates with the minimum necessary experience, qualifications, knowledge, and skillsets for the position should not expect to receive the upper end of the pay range.

The base pay for this position within California is: $27.60 - $46.00 hourly. For all other states, we use geographic cost of labor as an input to develop market‑driven ranges for our roles, and as such, each location where we hire may have a different range.
