Job summary

UC San Diego is seeking a Building Maintenance Worker to perform semi-skilled upkeep of university housing and dining facilities. You will repair appliances, lighting, piping, and mechanical systems while ensuring safety and reliability for residents and staff.

You will troubleshoot issues, document work in MAXIMO, and coordinate with the service center. The role requires the ability to work rotating shifts and respond to on-call needs.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write, and perform basic arithmetic calculations.
• Ability to maintain and repair domestic appliances and lighting systems.
• Knowledge of using basic soldering and piping techniques.
• Ability to operate computer systems and communicate via email.

Responsibilities

• Perform semi-skilled maintenance and repairs on buildings and related facilities and equipment.
• Troubleshoot residential maintenance problems and perform preventive maintenance tasks.
• Document all work in MAXIMO work order system and related handheld devices.
• Provide customer service to residents and guests and communicate status and estimated times for completion.
• Cover campus housing and dining buildings and grounds as assigned.
