Job summary

Minnesota Power, an ALLETE company, is seeking an Advanced Apprentice Lineworker in Eveleth, MN. This apprenticeship focuses on safe and efficient line work, equipment maintenance, and coordination with multiple departments and the public.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, plus over one year of lineworker experience or completion of a technical college program. CDL Class A and medical certification are required, with DOT/FMCSA compliance.

• Over one year of job related experience as a lineworker or completion of Technical College Lineworker training.
• Level determined by experience and qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Installs, removes and maintains electrical lines, equipment and fiber optic cable by efficient and safe operation of various pieces of heavy equipment and specialized tools.
• Coordinates line work activities with various departments, contractors and the general public.
• Restores electrical service by trouble shooting electrical lines and equipment.
• Minimizes outage duration by effectively diagnosing problems and planning/implementing restoration activities.
• During the normal work day, occasionally works without direct supervision.
• May be the first to respond to trouble calls or outages, requiring development of appropriate response and safeguarding of the public.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills required to develop and maintain positive working relationships.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

EDUCATION:

• High school graduate or equivalent.

EXPERIENCE:

• Apprentice Level - Over one year of job related experience as a lineworker or candidate has completed a Technical College Lineworker training program. (3rd 6 months or higher)

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

• This position will report regularly in person to Eveleth, MN.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Class A Commercial Driver's License and valid Medical Certificate.
• This position is subject to Federal DOT FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Act) regulations.
• This position may be subject to assessment of skills, job match and/or aptitude

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

The expected hourly compensation range for this advanced apprenticeship is $45.97 - $53.15. Compensation offered to the selected candidate will vary depending on relevant knowledge, skills, training, and experience.
