Minnesota Power, an ALLETE company, is an electric utility with headquarters in Duluth, Minnesota. This advanced apprenticeship involves maintaining and repairing plant equipment in a regulated, safety-focused environment, with opportunities to lead crews and coordinate with contractors.

The position requires a high school diploma, an apprenticeship track with several years of experience, and relevant certifications. It will report in Duluth, MN, and offers comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Three years or more of a formal apprenticeship or equivalent education/experience including millwright, welder, pipefitter, or machinist (machinist must have vocational certificate).
• Machinist vocational certificate.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair plant equipment and systems per standards, guidelines, and regulations.
• Provide leadership and work direction to crews, crafts and contractors when applicable.
• Perform related administrative duties (inventory, timekeeping, work orders).
• Demonstrate effective interpersonal and communication skills to build relationships.
• Must obtain and maintain appropriate certifications if applicable.
• Produce accurate documentation of work and inspections performed.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Maintain and repair plant equipment and systems within generation standards, manufacturer's guidelines, and complies with Federal and State laws and regulations, and Company rules.
• May provide leadership and work direction to various crews, crafts and contractors when applicable.
• Perform related administrative duties (i.e.: inventory, time keeping, work order system).
• Effective interpersonal and communication skills required to establish and maintain working relationships.
• Must obtain and maintain appropriate certifications if applicable.
• Produce accurate documentation of work and inspections performed.

REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Advanced Apprentice:

• High School Diploma or equivalent

PLUS

• Three years or more of a formal apprenticeship or equivalent education/experience which may include millwright, welder, pipefitter, or machinist (*machinist must have vocational certificate).

*Level to be determined based on experience and qualifications.*

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

• Must possess PDM (Predictive Maintenance) Specialty or complete this within 3 years of hire.
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
• This position will report regularly in person to Duluth, MN.
• This position may be subject to assessment of skills, job match and/or aptitude.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

• The expected hourly compensation range for this advanced apprenticeship is $45.73 - $53.58. Compensation offered to the selected candidate will vary depending on relevant knowledge, skills, training, and experience.
