Job summary

Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) in Maine is seeking an Adult Protective Services Caseworker to support incapacitated and dependent adults. The role involves APS investigations of abuse, neglect and exploitation, guardianship tasks, and coordination of services across Bangor and surrounding counties.

Requirements include a BA/BS in Social Work or related field, LSW eligibility, and at least 1 year of relevant experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or related field with at least 12 courses in behavioral or social sciences.
• LSW licensure eligibility required; conditional licensure allowed by Maine State Board of Social Worker Licensure.
• Minimum 1 year of experience with incapacitated and dependent adults.

Responsibilities

• Perform professional social work for incapacitated and dependent adults, including investigations of abuse, neglect, and exploitation, guardianship studies and capacity assessments.
• Investigate and document APS cases; petition and testify in court as needed.
• Advocate for and coordinate provision of services; maintain accurate case records and write summaries and memos.

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Social Work or related field (12 behavioral/social science courses)
