Job summary

Arizona Department of Economic Security (DES) seeks an experienced Adult Protective Services (APS) Investigator to support vulnerable adults 18+ who are alleged to be abused, neglected, or exploited. You will perform high-level investigations, collaborate with community resources, and ensure case plans meet client needs.

The role requires extensive travel, thorough documentation, and coordination with guardianship/conservatorship pathways.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Social Work, Criminal Justice, Rehabilitation, Healthcare, or a closely related field.
• One year of experience providing professional Case Management / Investigations Services (Intake, Needs Assessment, Service Planning, and Monitoring and Evaluation).

Responsibilities

• Investigate and assess the most complex cases involving vulnerable, elderly, or incapacitated adults (18+), alleged abuse/neglect/exploitation.
• Conduct case investigations with direct and indirect services requiring extensive travel within required timeframes.
• Prepare comprehensive progress notes, case plans, risk assessments, safety assessments, and closure summaries.
• Maintain accurate and timely case files and provide information to community agencies and the public.
• Refer clients for Guardianship/Conservatorship to Public Fiduciary or other entities as needed.
• Provide testimony for court appearances and coordinate in-home/out-of-home services.
