Job summary

Yale NewHaven Health Bridgeport Hospital is seeking a Patient Care Associate to support nurses and care teams in delivering high-quality patient care. The role includes vital signs, patient identification, and assisting with treatments under RN supervision.

You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, participate in shift bedside reports, and ensure safe, compassionate care for diverse patient populations in a fast-paced hospital environment.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or GED; and CNA or other educational equivalent.
• Experience: Two years direct patient care experience or education as stated above.
• Licensure: CT CNA certification, EMT, student nurse or LPN; BLS required.
• Special Skills: Speak and write English proficiently; successful orientation completion.

Responsibilities

• Under RN direction, obtain and report information to assist in patient assessment, planning and evaluation.
• Assist in care delivery; ensure accurate patient identification and safe medication handling per policies.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary team and communicate effectively with patients, families and staff.
• Relay bedside reports at shift start and as needed throughout shift.
• Relocate and rotate to meet patient care needs.
• Complete non-therapeutic tasks including delivering medications from pneumatic tube to the unit.
