Job summary

The Research Foundation of The City University of New York (RFCUNY) seeks an Adult Literacy Program Coordinator at Hunter College to help manage two literacy programs serving English language learners and adult students.

You will handle intake, testing, attendance tracking, communications, and data management, working with program staff and students to ensure smooth operations, compliance, and culturally responsive support.

Qualifications

• The required Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in education, administration, communications, social services, or a related field is preferred.
• Experience in educational, nonprofit, community-based, or adult literacy settings is preferred.
• Bilingual or multilingual abilities, especially Spanish and/or languages spoken by NYC adult learners.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
• Ability to work effectively with culturally and linguistically diverse populations.
• Strong technology skills, including Google Workspace, spreadsheets, databases, and online platforms.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
• Ability to work onsite during program hours.

Responsibilities

• Serve as primary contact for prospective and current students via phone, email, text, and social media.
• Support intake, orientation, registration, testing, and attendanceTracking.
• Maintain class rosters and update student databases.
• Ensure forms and documentation are properly filed.
• Coordinate student IDs and certificates of completion.
• Assist with classroom logistics, supplies, and program setup.
• Maintain digital and physical program records; assist with NYSED grant reporting.
• Support pre- and post-testing coordination and tracking.
• Promote the program through outreach materials and events.
• Collaborate with the Program Manager and instructional staff; participate in staff meetings.
