Job summary

Commonpoint Queens (Samuel Field YM and YWHA) seeks a Literacy Coordinator to lead the Adult Workforce program in the Bronx. You will teach, develop curricula, and supervise part-time instructors to advance HSE, ESOL, and digital literacy outcomes.

The role entails curriculum design, blended learning, and managing grants and student services to improve educational gains and mobility for adults in our community.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field; equivalent work experience in ESOL/education.
  • 2+ years of literacy and ESOL instruction experience.
  • 1+ year supervising instructional staff.
  • Experience with city/state/federal grants (DYCD/HRSA) and other funding sources.
  • Bilingual in Spanish, Mandarin, Russian or another language is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of part-time instructors (HSE, ESOL, Digital Literacy) with weekly supervision, deliverables, and updates to leadership.
  • Assist in recruitment of ESOL students by scheduling Best Plus testing and assessments.
  • Develop contextualized curriculums, e-learning lessons, and blended/in-person instructional tools.
  • Teach and instruct beginner to advanced classes at Commonpoint.
  • Ensure all classes comply with DYCD guidelines and requirements.
  • Develop program outcomes, assessments, and student services plans to support success.
