Job summary

Center for Family Life in Sunset Park is seeking a dedicated ESOL Instructor to deliver high-quality English language instruction to adult learners. The ideal candidate is passionate about adult education, and committed to student success in a culturally responsive, inclusive learning environment.

The role emphasizes grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, and conversation, with a focus on digital literacy and using BEST Plus 3.0 for placement and progress tracking.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Education, TESOL/ESL, English, English Literature or related field.
• Bilingual in Spanish strongly preferred.
• Minimum of two years of teaching experience, preferably with adult learners.
• Strong verbal and written communication.
• Advanced computer literacy and ability to teach digital literacy.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver lessons tailored to adult English learners, focusing on grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation and conversation.
• Create a welcoming classroom where learners practice English.
• Incorporate digital literacy and online platforms to support instruction and communication.
• Assist with initial student placement using BEST Plus 3.0; conduct ongoing assessments and portfolios.
• Maintain attendance records and provide monthly progress updates.
• Coordinate with ESOL team to address barriers and support student goals.
• Prepare documentation for weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.
• Attend staff meetings and complete professional development hours.
