Job summary

Luzerne County Community College seeks a program coordinator to supervise the Adult Learners' Training and Assistance Program (ALTA) component, including basic and literacy education, ESL, family literacy and workplace skills, with staff recruitment and professional development oversight.

Responsibilities include maintaining learner data, preparing state and federal reports, organizing meetings, and building partnerships with community agencies to enhance services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Education or related field; Masters preferred.
• Certification in Reading or ESL desired.
• Two years working experience with basic and literacy education programs for the adult learner.
• Experience in recruitment/outreach, retention, parent involvement, volunteer training, and instruction within adult basic education components.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy; knowledge of procedures to document adult learner eligibility; working knowledge of adult basic education programming.
• Ability to supervise and lead volunteer and part-time staffers; develop marketing strategies for adult basic and literacy programs.
• Well-developed oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and monitor ALTA component staff and activities.
• Recruit staff and coordinate outreach and recruitment events.
• Prepare informational materials for and about all facets of the program and its staff.
• Prepare reports indicating growth and attainment of objectives for state and federal reporting.
• Maintain learner data and confidentiality; ensure eligibility requirements are satisfied.
• Coordinate data management and program improvements based on outcomes.
• Organize staff in-service meetings and develop staff instructional competencies.
• Build collaborative relationships with community agencies to enhance service delivery.
