Job summary

Literacy Delaware seeks an AmeriCorps Adult Literacy Instructor to provide direct support to adult learners across Delaware. You will develop lesson plans, conduct one-on-one tutoring, and facilitate small group instruction to advance literacy outcomes.

Key duties include learner assessments, tailoring instruction, coordinating with libraries and partners, and helping track progress and data. The program offers an education award, living allowance, and training opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Conduct initial learner assessments and benchmark learners
• Prepare and facilitate lesson plans tailored to learners needs and goals
• Coach and instruct learners one-on-one and in small groups over a wide spectrum of literacy needs
• Assist adult learners in setting and meeting their goals
• Collaborate with and maintain relationships with community partners and local libraries
• Communicate regularly with coordinators on learner needs, attendance and other pertinent information
• Support the tracking and reporting of data
• Assist with learner and volunteer recruitment, recognition, and engagement efforts

Believing that literacy is the great equalizer, Literacy Delaware advances literacy through training, tutoring, English language acquisition, and advocacy for all Delawareans. For nearly 40 years, Literacy Delaware has trained volunteers to tutor adults with low literacy or English language skills.

Member Duties : This position will provide direct support to adult learners throughout the state of Delaware. Duties include but are not limited to developing lesson plans, conducting one-on-one tutoring sessions, and facilitating small class instruction, overall support of Literacy Delaware programming.
