Job summary

Compass Health Center in Falls Church, VA seeks an Adult Group Therapist to build our PHP/IOP programs for 18+ patients, with flexibility to 12+. You will lead CBT/DBT skill groups and collaborate across clinicians in a 100% onsite role starting mid January after five weeks of training.

Qualifications

• Must be a Psychologist or Master's level therapist.
• Eligible for Virginia license (Master's level provisional or independent).
• 1+ year of post-Master’s clinical experience or relevant internship.
• Core CBT and DBT skills required.

Responsibilities

• Developing and implementing DBT/CBT skill groups.
• Providing crisis intervention and staff support as needed.
• Developing and documenting treatment plans and weekly updates.
• Co-facilitating creative/experiential therapeutic groups.
• Assisting program director with family phone coaching and follow-ups.
• Checking in with treatment team about changes and progress.
• Providing clinical observations during interdisciplinary meetings.
• Providing individual support to patients as needed.
• Supporting other team members in various treatment groups.
• Guiding milieu staff during skills and executive functioning activities.
• Participating in discharge planning for patients.
• Other duties as assigned.

As an Adult Group Therapist, you will spend the majority of your time with our patients facilitating evidenced based groups using modalities like CBT, DBT, and ACT. We are seeking new and experienced clinicians with a passion for delivering dynamic and informative groups for our patients. This role will work with patients aged 18+ (and flexibility to support 12+) in our Mood & Anxiety Program, while also offering the opportunity to be cross-trained within our Adult specialty programs and services: Trauma, OCD/Complex Anxiety, MentalHealth and Substance Use.

Please note that this role is set to start in mid January and will consist of 5 weeks of training prior to launching for patients, and will be 100% onsite at our Falls Church location.

What You'll Do:

• Developing and implementing DBT/CBT skill groups
• Providing crisis intervention and staff support, as needed
• Developing and documenting treatment plans and weekly update
• Co-facilitating creative expression and other experiential therapeutic groups
• Assisting program director in supporting families through phone coaching and follow-up calls
• Checking in with treatment team about changes and progress for individual patients
• Providing clinical observations and insights during interdisciplinary meetings
• Providing individual support to patients, as needed
• Providing support to other team members in various treatment groups
• Providing guidance and support for milieu staff during skills and executive functioning therapy activities/instruction
• Participating in discharge planning for patients
• Other duties, as assigned

Who You Are:

• Psychologist or Master's level therapist
• Hold or be eligible for a Master's level provisional or independent clinical license in Virginia
• 1 + year of post-Master’s clinical experience, or a relevant master’s level internship
• Possess a core skill set of Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
• Experience with patients in crisis, and a strong passion for working within high acuity environments

Compensation

We are committed to a fair and equitable work environment. The expected compensation range for this role is below. This range includes multiple career path levels across the organization; where you fall in the range is dependent upon a number of factors including, but not limited to, your years of experience, type of experience, location, and education/certifications. Compass reserves the right to update these ranges.

$64,000 — $80,000 USD
