Job summary

Compass Health Center is launching a Falls Church, VA adolescent PHP/IOP program and seeks an Adolescent Group Therapist. You will lead DBT/CBT groups for ages 12–18, provide crisis support, and assist in discharge planning as part of a new multidisciplinary team.

The role starts mid January with 5 weeks of training and is 100% onsite in Falls Church, with cross-training opportunities in adolescent specialty tracks and family coaching. License eligibility in VA is required.

Qualifications

• Competence in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).
• Experience providing crisis intervention in high-acuity settings.
• Experience delivering group-based therapy to adolescents.
• Licensure or eligibility for Virginia licensure as a psychologist or master's-level clinician.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement DBT/CBT skill groups for ages 12–18.
• Provide crisis intervention and staff support as needed.
• Develop and document treatment plans and weekly updates.
• Co-facilitate creative expression and experiential groups.
• Support families through phone coaching and follow-up calls.

As an Adolescent Group Therapist, you will spend the majority of your time with our patients facilitating evidenced based groups using modalities like CBT, DBT, and ACT. We are seeking new and experienced clinicians with a passion for delivering dynamic and informative groups for our patients. This role will work with patients aged 12-18 in our Mood & Anxiety Program, while also offering the opportunity to be cross-trained within our Adolescent specialty programs and services: School Refusal, OCD/Complex Anxiety, Mental Health and Substance Use.

Please note that this role is set to start in mid January and will consist of 5 weeks of training prior to launching for patients, and will be 100% onsite at our Falls Church location.

What You'll Do

• Developing and implementing DBT/CBT skill groups, working with ages 12-18 years old
• Providing crisis intervention and staff support, as needed
• Developing and documenting treatment plans and weekly update
• Co-facilitating creative expression and other experiential therapeutic groups
• Assisting program director in supporting families through phone coaching and follow-up calls
• Checking in with treatment team about changes and progress for individual patients
• Providing clinical observations and insights during interdisciplinary meetings
• Providing individual support to patients, as needed
• Providing support to other team members in various treatment groups
• Providing guidance and support for milieu staff during skills and executive functioning therapy activities/instruction
• Participating in discharge planning for patients
• Other duties, as assigned

Who You Are

• Psychologist or Master's level therapist
• Hold or be eligible for a Master's level provisional or independent clinical license in Virginia
• 1 + year of post-Master’s clinical experience, or a relevant master’s level internship
• Possess a core skill set of Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
• Experience with patients in crisis, and a strong passion for working within high acuity environments

Compensation

$64,000 — $80,000 USD
