Job summary

The College of Southern Maryland seeks an Instructional Specialist to support adult education instructors through curriculum development, coaching, and professional development. You will liaise with staff and community partners to promote student success and navigate post-secondary opportunities.

You will ensure compliance with program standards, manage interactions with the workforce board, and contribute to program growth aligned with state goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Minimum of three years teaching experience required.
• Master’s degree preferred.
• Conversant in the Spanish language and familiarity with the Hispanic culture preferred

Responsibilities

• Oversee all adult education adjunct instructional staff.
• Ensure appropriate teacher/learner ratios and flexible schedules.
• Mentor and support instructors to close instructional gaps.
• Observe instruction and provide feedback to staff.
• Research and procure instructional resources.
• Develop professional development addressing instructor needs.
• Guide use of proxy hours and digital resources.
• Meet with instructors to discuss student progress.
• Review GED Ready results to identify program gaps.
• Collaborate with workforce partners and college services.
• Represent Adult Education at CSMD events and meetings
