Job summary

Anne Arundel Community College in Arnold, Maryland is seeking an Instructional Specialist I for the English Language Learning program. The role leads curriculum design, conducts instruction across modalities, and supports faculty onboarding and student advising to promote success.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in TESOL, applied linguistics, adult education, education, or a related field.
• At least five years of experience teaching English to adult learners in in-person and online or hybrid settings.
• Experience with curriculum development, instructional assessment, and using student data to improve instruction.

Responsibilities

• CURRICULUM: Develop and revise continuing education ELL curriculum, courses, and sequences aligned with standards; use data to identify needs and improvements.
• INSTRUCTION: Teach credit and continuing education ELL courses in face-to-face, online, hybrid, HyFlex formats; model inclusive teaching practices.
• PROGRAM & ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT: Collaborate with leadership and staff to ensure compliance with grants and program targets; contribute to reporting and monitoring.
• PARTNERSHIPS: Build relationships with internal and community partners; support pathways from ELL to credit education and workforce opportunities.
• COMMITTEE MEMBERSHIP: Participate in department meetings and cross-functional groups; represent ELL concerns and instructional quality.
• PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT: Stay current on research and practices in adult ELL instruction; participate in state/regional/national PD activities.
