Job summary

Lockheed Martin Aeronautics in Marietta, Georgia, seeks a Manufacturing Engineer in the Skunk Works to drive manufacturing processes and continuous improvement across the factory floor. You will bridge design and production, shaping how tomorrow’s aircraft are built with automation, robotics, and advanced manufacturing techniques.

You will lead process improvements, evaluate equipment performance, and collaborate with elite engineering teams to deliver high-impact results.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
• Experience in manufacturing engineering, preferably in aerospace, defense, or high-tech hardware.
• Technical lead on design reviews, process improvement initiatives.
• Understanding of the Systems Engineering V-Model, requirements flow-down, and verification & validation (V&V) processes.

As a Manufacturing Engineer in Skunk Works, you will play a critical role as liaison between our design engineering teams and the production team responsible for building tomorrow's future in an advanced manufacturing and technology facility.
Performs in a collaborative environment to develop and implement manufacturing processes, procedures and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, processing, fabrication, and material handling. Drives adoption of new technologies and processes (automation, robotics, computer aided manufacturing software, etc.) to achieve greater efficiency, cost reduction and quality improvement. Creates and analyzes 3D based model data environment to optimize manufacturing process and digital work instructions. Leverages understanding of materials and automatic processes to define operations procedures and build sequences to drive operational excellence. Evaluates performance (including IoT devices, etc.) of equipment and tools to verify their efficiency and investigates and initiates corrective action of problems and deficiencies to ensure operational excellence. Leverages factory data to develop statistical process control approaches and integrates reporting and data analytics solutions for continuous improvement. Provides input to product design regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree
• Experience in manufacturing engineering, preferably in aerospace, defense, or high-tech hardware.
• Technical lead on design reviews, process improvement initiatives.
• Understanding of the Systems Engineering V-Model, requirements flow-down, and verification & validation (V&V) processes.

Ability to obtain and maintain a secret clearance per business requirements

Desired Skills

• Bacherlors Degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Electrical, Systems Engineering, or a related field.
• Master’s degree or coursework in Model-Based Engineering (MBE) or Systems Engineering.
• 5-8 years of professional experience
• Influencing decisions without formal authority

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $85300.00 - $158300.00

PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
