Job summary

Lockheed Martin Aeronautics in Marietta, GA seeks a Manufacturing Engineer Staff to lead end-to-end manufacturing roadmaps for complex air-system programs, mentor junior engineers, and drive Lean and Agile initiatives on the factory floor.

You will partner with design and production, champion continuous improvement, develop training curricula, and present data-driven insights to senior leadership as strategic initiatives are pursued.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field and aerospace/defense manufacturing experience.
  • Experience leading design reviews and process improvement initiatives.
  • Understanding of the Systems Engineering V-Model, requirements flow-down, and V&V processes.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a secret clearance per business requirements.
  • Familiarity with MIL-STD, AS9100, ISO 9001 and aerospace standards.
  • Experience with ICDs, System Architecture and trade-study techniques.
  • Knowledge of machining, additive manufacturing, sheet-metal fabrication, welding and assembly.
  • Ability to translate model data into manufacturing instructions (e-drawings, CNC programs, inspection plans).

Responsibilities

  • Develop manufacturing processes, procedures and layouts for assemblies and production lines.
  • Drive adoption of new technologies to improve efficiency, cost and quality.
  • Create and analyze 3D model data to optimize manufacturing and digital work instructions.
  • Use factory data to implement SPC and data analytics for continuous improvement.
  • Provide input to design concepts and manufacturing requirements to optimize processes.

Drives adoption of new technologies and processes (automation, robotics, computer aided manufacturing software, etc.) to achieve greater efficiency, cost reduction and quality improvement. Creates and analyzes 3D based model data environment to optimize manufacturing process and digital work instructions. Leverages understanding of materials and automatic processes to define operations procedures and build sequences to drive operational excellence. Evaluates performance (including IoT devices, etc.) of equipment and tools to verify their efficiency and investigates and initiates corrective action of problems and deficiencies to ensure operational excellence. Leverages factory data to develop statistical process control approaches and integrates reporting and data analytics solutions for continuous improvement. Provides input to product design regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques.

  • Technical lead on design reviews, process improvement initiatives.

  • Understanding of configuration management and change-control processes.

  • Experience working in cross-functional teams (systems, test, quality, supply chain).
  • Knowledge of machining, additive manufacturing, sheet-metal fabrication, welding, and assembly processes.
