Job summary

What You Will Be Doing

Work corrective actions for discrepancies in a manufacturing environment across multiple portions of the build. Conduct critical reviews of processes to identify gaps and close the process gaps with the intent of reducing variation and discrepancies in the build. Collaborate with quality engineering and production operations to triage repeat failure modes in a production environment. Utilize lean six sigma toolsets to identify root causes and develop corrective action plans. Collaborate with team members to explore out-of-the-box thinking and contribute to product improvement initiatives.

Performs in a collaborative environment to develop and implement manufacturing processes, procedures and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, processing, fabrication, and material handling. Drives adoption of new technologies and processes (automation, robotics, computer aided manufacturing software, etc.) to achieve greater efficiency, cost reduction and quality improvement. Creates and analyzes 3D based model data environment to optimize manufacturing process and digital work instructions. Leverages understanding of materials and automatic processes to define operations procedures and build sequences to drive operational excellence. Evaluates performance (including IoT devices, etc.) of equipment and tools to verify their efficiency and investigates and initiates corrective action of problems and deficiencies to ensure operational excellence. Leverages factory data to develop statistical process control approaches and integrates reporting and data analytics solutions for continuous improvement. Provides input to product design regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques.

Basic Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or other related technical field
• Strong ability in written and verbal technical communication skills. The candidate must be able to communicate effectively across multiple levels of the business and remote collaboration.
• Ability to obtain a secret security clearance after offering acceptance
• Ability to obtain special program access.

Desired Skills

• Experience in manufacturing or related disciplines
• Experience with lean manufacturing and process improvements
• Experience with composite part and assembly manufacturing process.
• Experience with composite part and assembly tooling.
• Experience with shop floor setup and optimization.
• Experience with various PLM systems including SAP, iBase-t (Solumina), Teamcenter, and/or SFM
• Experience with CATIA or other related CAD software.
• Experience supporting various projects and coordinating activities related to the full life cycle of projects from conception to delivery
• Working knowledge of one or more organizations including: Operations, Planning, Production Control, ERP, MRP, Quality or systems integration.
• Demonstrated ability to drive issues to closure and develop preventative action plan to limit failures in the future.
• Demonstrated ability to solve logistical issues and lead efforts to drive mission success.
• Demonstrated understanding of engineering blueprints, process specifications and manufacturing planning.
• Previous experience incorporating model-based engineering into manufacturing plans.

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $65500.00 - $121700.00 At Lockheed Martin, we know mission success starts with taking care of our people. Annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs may be offered depending on the position. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and can vary from year to year and are tied to a range of performance metrics.

For (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
