Job summary

Louisville Metro Government is seeking a coordinated Animal Care Coordinator to oversee care for animals preparing for foster or adoption and to manage on-site and off-site adoption programs.

The role requires at least a high school diploma and one year of related experience, with EBI certification or the ability to obtain it within six months. A valid driver's license and willingness to work varied shifts are also required.

Qualifications

  • High School Graduation or GED equivalent.
  • One year of customer service, animal care, control or handling or related experience.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.
  • Applicants must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Must possess EBI (Euthanasia By Injection) certification by the Kentucky Board of Veterinary Examiners or obtain within six (6) months of employment.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving history.

Responsibilities

  • Provides care to domestic animals; cleans and disinfects cages and pens, administers medications, and transfers animals between quarters.
  • Ensures that staff at the adoption sites appropriately care for animals and assist the public with adoption questions.
  • Provides support, information and scheduling for foster families and organizations.
  • Coordinates all aspects of the on-site and off-site animal adoption program.
  • Coordinates all equipment and materials needed for various adoption events and activities.
