Job summary

Louisville Metro Government seeks a dedicated individual to coordinate the care of and preparation of animals for foster or adoption. The role works under general supervision, developing work methods and sequences independently.

Essential duties include caring for animals, maintaining adoption site operations, supporting foster families, and coordinating events and supplies for adoptions. Requirements include a high school diploma and relevant experience; EBI certification must be obtained

Qualifications

• High School Graduation or GED equivalent.
• One (1) year of customer service, animal care, control or handling or related experience.
• An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.
• Applicants must be 21 years of age or older.
• Must possess EBI (Euthanasia By Injection) certification by the Kentucky Board of Veterinary Examiners or obtain within six (6) months of employment.
• Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license with an acceptable driving history.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates all aspects of the on-site and off-site animal adoption program.
• Provides care to domestic animals; cleans and disinfects cages and pens, administers medications, and transfers animals between quarters.
• Ensures staff at adoption sites provide proper care and assist the public with adoption questions.
• Supports scheduling for foster families and organizations.
• Coordinates equipment and materials for adoption events and activities.
• Performs related work as assigned.
