Job summary

Lutheran Social Services of Illinois (LSSI) is hiring a full-time Adoption Preservation Support Counselor, Monday through Friday in Illinois. The role delivers therapeutic services to adopted children and families, performing assessments, treatment planning, counseling, and careful document submission in line with program plans.

Requirements include a Master’s degree in counseling or social work and current licensure or supervised licensure path.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in counseling or social work required.
• Current licensure as LCSW/LCPC/LMFT/LSW required or pursued with supervision.
• 3+ years post-graduate therapy experience preferred.
• Effective communication, strong organizational skills, and IT proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive assessment of client’s therapeutic needs.
• Develop individualized treatment plan engaging children, families, and staff.
• Deliver direct counseling to individuals, families, and groups as needed.
• Submit reports and billing accurately and timely as required.
• Participate in supervision for guidance and decision-making; provide DSM-5/ICD-10 diagnoses.
• Maintain professional conduct with clients and partners, with integrity.
