Adoption Assistance Specialist

Kansas Department for Children and Families | Prevention & Protection Services | Kansas City Region / Kansas City.

Position Summary & Responsibilities

The Kansas Department for Children and Families is hiring innovators and leaders. This position receives written or verbal instruction from the Supervisor to perform work assignments. The adoption assistance specialist will provide guidance and information to families requiring adoption assistance, asking for further details or clarification as needed. Work requires initiative, discretion, and the ability to make independent judgments regarding urgency and sensitivity of a situation and requires careful interpretation. The specialist must carry out program goals as set out in the Prevention and Protection Services Policy and Procedure Manual in a timely manner while maintaining professional standards.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Six months of experience in planning, implementing and monitoring activities relevant to the agency’s programs. (Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency.)
  • Valid Driver’s License (must maintain driver’s license throughout employment).
Preferred Qualifications
  • A minimum of 2 years of work experience in Children and Family Services.
  • Bachelor of Social Work Degree.
Post-Offer, Pre-employment Requirements
  • Security Clearance: A background check (KBI – criminal background, welfare fraud, driver’s license and Child/Adult Abuse and Neglect Central Registry) is required for all positions. This may include fingerprinting and an FBI check. Security clearance must be obtained prior to employment and maintained throughout employment.

Compensation

$37,980.80 annually – salary may be dependent upon the candidate’s qualifications and experience.
