Job summary

UofL Health, Peace Hospital in Louisville is seeking a Mental Health Tech to support adolescent psychiatry services on the 1L unit, 7am–7pm. Under RN supervision, you will assist with patient care, safety, and daily activities in a therapeutic environment.

Responsibilities include crisis intervention, vital signs, specimen collection, and collaboration with families and care teams. A High School diploma and CPR certification are required; driving license is needed for transport roles.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Preferred college coursework in social/health sciences.
• One year of inpatient or emergency psychiatry or related experience preferred.
• Completion of a recognized Clinical Assistant, Medical Assistant or EMT program preferred.
• Nursing students who have completed Fundamentals of Nursing School preferred.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and maintain the therapeutic environment.
• Assist with crisis identification, management and stabilization.
• Transport patients and accompany them during tests and discharge.
• Assist with physical exams, safety searches, patient transfers, and documentation.
• Support nursing staff and perform delegated basic nursing skills.
• Adhere to hospital policies and HIPAA requirements.
• Cross-train and provide staffing support to psychiatric units as needed.
