Job summary

UofL Health, Peace - Louisville, KY, is seeking a Mental Health Tech to join the night shift (7P–7A) in a fast-paced psychiatric unit. Under RN supervision, you will assist in delivering patient care, maintain a safe environment, perform vitals, phlebotomy, and support crisis interventions.

Candidates should have a High School diploma or GED; CPR certification; experience in inpatient/ED psychiatry preferred; coursework in social/health sciences encouraged; valid driver’s license for transport

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED/equivalent required.
• Preferred college coursework in social and health sciences.
• One year inpatient or emergency psychiatry experience preferred.
• Completion of a Clinical Assistant, Medical Assistant or EMT program preferred.
• Nursing students who completed Fundamentals of Nursing preferred.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and maintain a therapeutic environment.
• Assist in crisis identification, management and stabilization.
• Transport patients and accompany them for tests and discharge.
• Perform vital signs, phlebotomy, and point-of-care testing.
• Support nursing staff and other disciplines.
