Job summary

Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville, NC seeks a Behavioral Health Technician to provide routine patient care in the adolescent unit. You will observe patients, record vital signs, assist with daily living, and support a safe, therapeutic environment under supervision.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Associates or Bachelors in Psychology/Social Work preferred.
• Nursing Assistant certification accepted.
• BLS from the American Heart Association required.
• Nonviolent Crisis Intervention training and certification within 30 days of employment.
• 2 years of psychiatric experience preferred.
• Must possess unrestricted NCI Certification upon completion of training.
• General computer competency required.

Responsibilities

• Provide routine patient care and observation to monitor changes in condition.
• Assist with activities of daily living and emotional support under nurse direction.
• Assist with admissions, transfers, and discharges, including contraband searches and securing belongings.
• Obtain vital signs, monitor weight, and report abnormalities to the nurse.
• Assist with therapeutic holds, restraints, and seclusion per policy after training.
• Participate in group activities and educational initiatives; document intake/output and vitals.
• Facilitate Therapeutic Community Meeting and Wrap-up as assigned.
• Support cost containment and maintain a safe, clean therapeutic environment.
