Job summary

Tampa General Behavioral Health Hospital is seeking a Patient Coordinator to support adolescents and coordinate the therapeutic environment. The role collaborates with RNs, Behavioral Health Technicians, therapists, and care teams to ensure a safe and structured setting.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, an associate degree in psychology or related field, and at least two years of behavioral health experience.

Qualifications

• Strong communication, organization, collaboration, and mentoring skills.
• CPR certification within 30 days of employment and before patient contact.
• De-escalation training within 30 days of employment and before orientation.
• Trauma-informed care training within 30 days of employment.
• Dialectical behavior therapy training within 90 days of beginning the role.

Responsibilities

• Maintains a safe, trauma-informed, and patient-centered therapeutic environment.
• Provides continuous patient supervision, interaction, support, and positive role modeling.
• Uses therapeutic communication, problem-solving, crisis intervention, and de-escalation techniques.
• Encourages patients to participate in educational groups, therapeutic activities, and activities of daily living.
• Facilitates patient education groups and other approved therapeutic activities.
• Conducts routine safety checks and identifies potentially unsafe items or conditions.
• Reports changes to the RN and supports treatment planning.
• Completes required documentation and provides shift handoffs.
