Responsibilities

  • Register and admit patients before surgery with accurate demographic, insurance, and financial information.
  • Collect patient financial responsibilities and explain payment processes as needed.
  • Greet, assist, and direct patients, visitors, and families professionally.
  • Review insurance information for accuracy and address discrepancies with appropriate personnel.
  • Obtain registrations and consent signatures, ensuring documentation is complete and compliant.
  • Answer multi-line calls and route messages correctly.
  • Maintain medical records integrity and perform accurate data entry.
  • Manage health record indexes and storage/retrieval systems.
  • Scan and upload records into the EMR system per department policy.
  • Release patient information to authorized entities per regulations.
  • Safeguard patient confidentiality and data security.
  • Audit clinical records for completeness and accuracy.

Job Location: Lincoln Surgical Hospital - Lincoln, NE 68506

Schedule

Part-time, 20 hours per pay period (every two weeks). Fridays from 5:00 am - 1:30 pm. Specific hours will be discussed during the interview.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Register and admit patients prior to surgery while verifying demographic, insurance, and financial information.
  • Collect patient financial responsibilities and provide guidance to patients and family members regarding payment processes when needed.
  • Greet, assist, and direct patients, visitors, and families in a professional, courteous, and compassionate manner.
  • Review insurance information for accuracy and communicate any discrepancies to appropriate personnel.
  • Obtain required registration and consent signatures, ensuring all documentation is complete, accurate, and compliant with regulatory requirements.
  • Answer a multi-line telephone system and accurately route calls and messages.
  • Maintain the integrity of medical records by ensuring completeness, accuracy, and proper data entry.
  • Manage health record indexes and storage and retrieval systems used to collect, classify, store, and analyze information.
  • Scan and upload records into the electronic medical record (EMR) system in accordance with department policies.
  • Release patient information to authorized individuals and agencies in compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Safeguard patient information and maintain the confidentiality and security of medical records.
  • Audit clinical records to ensure documentation is complete, accurate, and meets established regulatory and organizational standards.
Qualifications
  • Previous experience with inpatient, outpatient, or hospital registration is preferred.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within ninety (90) days of employment.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Proficiency with computers and electronic health record systems.
