MaineGeneral Health is seeking a patient admissions specialist to ensure a smooth, professional experience for patients and families during registration and financial clearance before care begins.
You will work with clinicians and billing teams to collect needed information, explain steps, and resolve questions with care and accuracy in a healthcare setting.
This role supports a smooth, professional admission experience for patients and families by completing registration and financial clearance tasks, coordinating information with clinical teams, and making sure all required details are accurate and ready before care begins. The work combines customer service, attention to detail, and collaboration with multiple departments across the hospital.
You’ll meet with patients or caregivers before or after admission to collect needed information, explain the steps involved, and answer questions with clarity and care. You’ll be in regular communication with provider offices, nursing staff, and other internal partners to confirm the right information, coordinate admission details, and support safe and efficient patient placement. The job includes verifying insurance benefits, obtaining authorizations when needed, checking medical necessity, and collecting co‑pays, deductibles, and coinsurance. If a patient needs additional financial assistance or guidance, you’ll connect them to our financial counseling team. You’ll ensure all demographic, billing, and clinical information is entered accurately and on time to support both patient care and billing. This position is a strong fit for someone who enjoys helping others while working with accuracy and clear communication in a healthcare setting. If you take pride in being thorough, calm, and supportive while handling important details, we’d like to hear from you.
