Some experience in higher education, secondary school teaching, admissions, or medical profession is preferred, but not required.
Admissions Application Readers will recommend which applicants should advance in the admissions process to the Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine. Readers will holistically review written application materials, carefully evaluate academic preparation, assess an applicant’s exposure to the medical profession, as well as their desire to serve others and their communities.
Readers are expected to carefully read and make holistic evaluations on two application files per hour. Application review is conducted online, allowing flexible working hours. Work will be expected to be completed outside of the admission office. However, readers must attend an on-campus training session, regularly scheduled meetings with other readers and the department supervisor.
The Admissions Application Readers positions are seasonally used to review applications for approximately three to four months (July through December), but could extend beyond that period based on the volume of applications and departmental needs.
Admissions Application Readers must exhibit excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills in a diverse environment, as well as the ability to demonstrate a professional and confidential approach to the review process. Basic computer literacy and access to the internet is essential.
