The position functions within the Center for Resilient Communities and Landscapes Program, within the Watershed and Climate Service, and will assist the Climate Resilience Program and the Community Partnership Program (Program), Program Manager and staff in building and maintaining impactful relationships with local governments, community partners, networks and non‑profits. The goal of the position is to provide strategic outreach, capacity, and technical assistance to constituents across Maryland, specifically those in overburdened and underserved areas. The Program and this position aim to increase both fiscal and programmatic resource opportunities toward implementing restoration and resilience projects. Other job responsibilities include coordinating and attending meetings and outdoor site visits, state and/or federal grant management, and planning events or workshops for specific communities. As a Community Resilience Coordinator, part of this position involves engaging and assisting diverse and under‑represented communities to ascertain the skills and knowledge necessary to undertake environmental actions related to restoration, conservation, access, and inclusion.
This position will assist the Community Partnership and the Climate Resilience Programs to build capacity and provide technical assistance to local governments, networks and communities. The position works collaboratively to elevate and sustain local partnerships and foster connections that will increase awareness, planning, and implementation of restoration and resilience projects.
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience: Four years of administrative staff or professional work.
Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
Contractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program, have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents. As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.
Leave may be granted to a contractual employee at a rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked, not to exceed 40 hours per calendar year.
