Job summary

The Oklahoma Department of Public Safety, Legal Division, is seeking an Administrative Technician III to support processing driver medical records and provide timely service to the public. This is a full-time position in the DPS Legal Division.

Responsibilities include managing daily cancellations and PMR processes, reviewing Driver Review forms, handling mail and phone inquiries, researching statutes, and supporting SharePoint records.

Qualifications

  • Two years of clerical office experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of office methods and procedures.
  • Grammar, punctuation and spelling; of mathematics
  • Preparing and interpreting charts and graphs
  • Basic bookkeeping procedures
  • Inventory techniques
  • Telephone procedures
  • Standard business communications
  • Current office technologies

Responsibilities

  • Review Request for Driver Review forms, determine required next steps, and prepare correspondence for drivers and Service Oklahoma.
  • Respond professionally to questions from the public and agency staff by phone, email, and in person.
  • Research Oklahoma statutes and administrative rules concerning driver medical standards, explain applicable requirements, and identify questions that require legal review.
  • Process returned and incoming mail and provide phone coverage for the Legal unit.
  • Other administrative duties as assigned.

Job Description
BENEFITS

Basic Purpose

The Oklahoma Department of Public Safety legal division is seeking a detail-oriented professional to help process driver medical records and provide timely service to the public.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process daily cancellation, Periodic Medical Report (PMR), and PMR reminder lists in accordance with unit procedures; maintain related calendars and SharePoint records.
  • Review Request for Driver Review forms, determine required next steps under applicable procedures, and prepare correspondence for drivers and Service Oklahoma.
  • Respond professionally to questions from the public and agency staff by phone, email, and in person.
  • Research Oklahoma statutes and administrative rules concerning driver medical standards, explain applicable requirements, and identify questions that require legal review.

Level Descriptor

This is the specialist level where employees will independently perform most complex and technical duties, such as preparing presentations through manipulation of data, or preparing documents for audits or special reports. Some responsibility may be assigned for the functional supervision of other employees on a limited basis.

Education and Experience

Education and Experience requirements at this level consist of two years of clerical office experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Special Requirements

Some positions may require skill in typing accurately from plain copy at a rate of forty words per minute.

Department of Public Safety positions are safety sensitive as defined by 63 O.S. § 427.8.
