Job summary

DFAS is seeking an administrative support professional to play a central role in daily operations. You will perform a wide range of clerical duties, apply organizational regulations, and assist in personnel, budgeting, purchasing, logistics, and security tasks.

Independent judgement will be used to draft procedures and set internal priorities. Ideal candidates will type at least 40 WPM and have experience with newsletters, dashboards, and office automation tools such as Power BI, PowerPoint, and

Job description

Duties
  • Actively participates in the management of the activity or organization by performing a wide variety of clerical and administrative support duties. Serves as the central point of contact for matters related to day-to-day operations.
  • Applies knowledge of the organization, functions and regulations to carryout a wide variety of administrative functions related to its mission (e.g., personnel, accounting, budget, purchasing, logistics/supply, transportation, security, etc)
  • Exercises independent judgement. Composes operating procedures and sets internal priorities to generate improvements in administrative services.
  • An extensive knowledge of rules, operations, and practices, and judgment in locating and selecting the most appropriate guidelines is required.
  • Performs other duties related to office automation requiring a skill in general office machines, software, and the internet/intranet.
Requirements
  • Direct Deposit and Social Security Card is required.
  • Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
  • A one-year probationary period may be required.
  • Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
  • Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3, para.2 to include a Tier III background investigation with secret classified access.
  • PER AR 380-67, NON-US CITIZENS WILL NOT HAVE THE ABILITY TO OBTAIN THE REQUIRED T3 (SECRET) INVESTIGATION, THEREFORE, WILL BE UNABLE TO QUALIFY UNDER CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Qualifications

A Qualified Candidate Must Possess The Following
  • Work experience directly related to the duties described above.
  • Ability to type 40 words per minute.
In addition to the above qualifications, candidates who possess the following qualifications will be considered "Highly Preferred" or "Best Qualified":
  • Have at least one year of administrative assistance experience.
  • Have experience creating professional looking newsletters.
  • Have experience building professional PowerPoint presentations.
  • Have experience using and/or building trackers in SharePoint.
  • Have experience creating dashboards using Power BI.

Experience MUST be reflected on your Resume at the time of application to be considered for Standard and/or Highly Qualified for this position.   • This job is part of a pay-banded system. Sunday premium pay for regularly scheduled employees and night differential pay may be authorized by the Garrison Commander.
  • Non-foreign overseas allowances, cost of living (COLA), and differentials will not be paid, contingent upon eligibility.
