Job description

DESCRIPTION:

This is a senior-level clerical position with dual work that is customer-focused and involves registration of intoxicating liquor brand labels and excise tax collections. This position works under the direct supervision of the Licensing and Compliance Supervisor and offers an in-office work schedule of Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Minimal travel (approximately 5%) is expected for this position.

EXAMPLES OF WORK:

This position receives general direction from the compliance supervisor and will be expected to exercise independent judgment and discretion within the limits of established policies and procedures in completing daily tasks. This position spends a significant amount of time engaging with and assisting the public by phone and email and working with peers and therefore must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and licensees. The successful candidate will assist in reviewing and processing intoxicating liquor brand-registration applications through the examination of documents for compliance with registration requirements. Additionally, the successful candidate will perform financial clerical functions related to calculating and reconciling excise tax collections to determine accuracy, identify discrepancies, and promote compliance with Missouri laws. This position will, on occasion, participate in field audits performing inventory counts and educating licensees on brand registration and excise tax filing requirements. Other duties may include but are not limited to generating and compiling routine financial reports, completing violation reports when necessary, and other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

The applicant must possess one year of experience in clerical or related office work and be proficient in the use of modern office practices, procedures and computer software and equipment. Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel. Skilled in data entry and written and oral communication. Must possess a high school diploma or a GED certificate.
