JOB DESCRIPTION

Administrative Manager

Position Highlights:

What You'll Do: Provides overall administrative direction and coordination for policies, procedures and programs of a department or other major academic or administrative unit. Provides leadership and administrative management of day-to-day operations to ensure high quality service and promote a harmonious work environment.

1.Provides administrative direction and coordination in the formulation, interpretation and administration of current and long-range policies, procedures and programs.

2. May administers departmental contracts and grants in accordance with established policies and sponsor's requirements regarding records, reports, controls, and conditions governing expenditure of funds; provides guidance on the appropriation of funds as necessary.

3. Establishes major schedules, task assignments and allocation of manpower, space and equipment to ensure conformance with departmental commitments. Supervises support staff; Manages overall daily operations of department as assigned.

4. Determines departmental fiscal requirements and prepare budgetary recommendations; monitors, verifies and reconciles expenditure of budgeted funds.

5. Maintains liaison with all levels of administration, faculty and outside organizations to coordinate departmental business, accomplish directives, negotiate contracts and facilitate the resolution of problems.

6. Coordinates the compilation of and prepare operational and financial reports and analyses setting forth progress, adverse trends and appropriate recommendations or conclusions.

7. Assists the departmental leadership with the service operations and with projects and process as identified. Develops course of action, provides updates, feedback and reports to ensure that projects are executed properly and on time. Provides status updates as necessary.

8. Plans and coordinates construction, renovation and maintenance activities within or related to the department.

9. Provides oversight for administration of intern and resident programs, and development and maintenance of teaching programs and other academic matters. Presents lectures and training sessions on administrative or other viable topics as required.

10. Represents departmental chair in meetings, conferences and other affairs of an administrative nature. Negotiates and makes decisions in areas delegated on behalf of departmental chair.

11. Supervises and coordinates various personnel functions including hiring, merit recommendations, promotions, transfers and vacation schedules.

12. Ensures delivery of consistent and high-quality professional services by maintaining knowledge and skills for self-development and the development of colleagues.

13. Performs other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

What You'll Need:
  • Bachelors degree in Business Administration or related field of study
  • Five years of administrative work experience in a hospital or medical school setting; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • Masters degree in Business Administration, Public Health, Health Administration or related field study preferred.
  • Prior experience gained in the department to be served preferred.
