Job summary

Children’s Minnesota is offering an Administrative Fellowship to provide practical experience across hospital, clinic and administrative operations within a pediatric health system. You will work with mentors to apply finance, strategy, operations and teamwork skills in real-world projects.

The role targets Master of Healthcare Administration students, with 1–2 years of healthcare exposure preferred, focusing on performance improvement, business development and project management.

Qualifications

  • Graduate student in an accredited Master of Healthcare Administration program.
  • 1–2 years prior healthcare experience preferred.
  • Strong communication and analytical abilities.
  • Interest in pediatric health care and strategic projects.

Position Summary

The fundamental purpose of the position is to provide the Administrative Fellow with practical experience through direct exposure to and active participation in a variety of administrative activities in preparation for leadership opportunities within the Children's system. This position exposes the fellow to hospital, clinic, and administrative operations in a pediatric health care delivery system. The role enables fellows to apply their fundamental knowledge and skills acquired in finance, strategic management, operations management, and teamwork in a working environment with direct access to a mentor for assistance as needed.

Additional Fellowship Requirements
  • Help set goals and objectives that meet the needs of both the individual and the organization.
  • Develop and participate in regular status updates on projects as assigned.
  • Participate in and lead various strategic projects as assigned.
  • Perform self-evaluations on progress and determine needs assessment.
  • Facilitate a meeting with preceptors on a regular basis.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
  • Candidates must be a graduate student of an accredited Master of Health care Administration program.
Education
  • Master in Healthcare Administration Program
Experience
  • 1-2 years prior healthcare experience is preferred.
  • A desire to work in a Pediatric environment is a plus.
  • Previous experience in performance improvement, driving & developing business opportunities, and Project Management.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • Effective verbal and written communication.
  • Analytical skills necessary to access facts and develop recommendations.
  • Interpersonal and communication skills required to work with all levels of the health care organization.
  • Ability to manage the completion of tasks.
  • Highly motivated individual.

  • Ability to understand limitations and request assistance.
  • Experience in development of business plans and project implementation.

The posted salary represents a market competitive range based on salary survey benchmark data for similar roles in the local or national market. Annual salaries displayed are based on full-time employment (40 standard hrs per week). Annual salaries for part-time positions will be prorated based on the employee’s scheduled weekly hours in relation to the full-time standard. When determining individual pay rates, we carefully consider a wide range of factors including but not limited to market indicators for the specific role, the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate, internal equity and organizational needs.

In addition to your salary, this position may be eligible for medical, dental, vision, retirement, and other fringe benefits. Positions that require night, weekend or on-call work may be eligible for shift differentials or premium pay.
