Job Summary and Qualifications
The Administrative Director of Surgical Services focuses on providing outstanding patient service, growing the service line, developing leadership, and managing resources. Responsibilities include maintaining strong physician and administrative relationships and functioning with high business acumen.
Key Responsibilities:
- Participate in service, departmental, and hospital-wide committees, providing communication to stakeholders.
- Enhance the customer experience in Surgical Services.
- Coach staff through feedback, development plans, and performance documentation.
- Adhere to all HR policies.
- Communicate departmental, organizational, and industry information effectively.
- Implement evidence-based employee engagement practices.
- Build relationships and networks to meet organizational and departmental goals.
- Use talent review data for pipeline development and strategic career advancement.
- Set departmental vision and goals.
- Design standards of care and develop processes for compliance.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate surgical programs ensuring quality patient care.
- Monitor compliance with regulations, policies, safety, and environmental standards.
- Oversee PI programs monitoring care quality.
- Ensure operational excellence and quality service delivery.
- Follow exposure control plans for pathogens.
- Foster collaboration across departments and community partners.
- Seek new strategies to expand patient services.
- Prioritize and defend capital requests.
- Manage departmental finances effectively.
- Promote growth and service line expansion.
- Build strategic relationships with medical staff and promote the OR as the choice for physicians, patients, and staff.
- Demonstrate professionalism and build internal and external networks.
- Ensure positive patient interactions and adherence to conduct and values.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (required).
- Master’s degree in Nursing, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or related field (preferred).
- Minimum 3 years of experience in surgical services (required).
- Leadership experience preferred or equivalent experience/education.
- Current RN license in the practicing state (required).
- CNOR and CSSM certifications preferred.
