Job Summary and Qualifications

The Administrative Director of Surgical Services is responsible for providing strategic leadership to ensure outstanding patient service, service line growth, leadership development, and resource management. The role requires maintaining strong relationships with physicians and administration, and operating with high business acumen.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Participate in service, departmental, and hospital-wide committees, ensuring effective communication.
  2. Enhance the patient experience in Surgical Services.
  3. Coach staff through feedback, development plans, and performance documentation.
  4. Adhere to all Human Resource policies.
  5. Communicate departmental, organizational, and industry information effectively.
  6. Implement evidence-based employee engagement practices.
  7. Build strong relationships and networks to meet organizational and departmental goals.
  8. Use talent review data for pipeline development and foster career advancement.
  9. Set strategic vision and goals for the department.
  10. Develop standards of care and ensure compliance.
  11. Develop, implement, and evaluate surgical programs ensuring quality care.
  12. Monitor compliance with regulations, accreditation, safety, and hospital policies.
  13. Oversee PI programs monitoring care quality.
  14. Ensure operational excellence and delivery of quality services.
  15. Follow exposure control plans for bloodborne and airborne pathogens.
  16. Promote collaboration across departments and community agencies.
  17. Seek new program strategies to expand patient services.
  18. Prioritize and defend capital equipment requests.
  19. Manage departmental finances and resource utilization.
  20. Advance growth and service line development.
  21. Build relationships with medical staff to promote service line growth.
  22. Strive to make the OR the choice for physicians, patients, staff, and payers.
  23. Demonstrate professionalism and confidence.
  24. Develop internal and external networks.
  25. Promote positive patient interactions.
  26. Adhere to the Code of Conduct, Mission, and Values.
  27. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred.
  • Master’s degree in Nursing, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in surgical services required.
  • Leadership experience preferred or equivalent education/experience.
  • Current RN license in practicing state required.
  • CNOR certification preferred.
  • CSSM certification preferred.
