The Department of Anesthesiology, Perioperative, and Pain Medicine at Stanford University’s School of Medicine is a world‑leading department that offers comprehensive training and perioperative patient care, pain management, and critical care medicine as well as cutting‑edge research, encompassing a wide spectrum of programs in basic, translational, clinical, health services and medical education.
The Department of Anesthesiology, Perioperative, and Pain Medicine is seeking an Administrative Associate 4 (AA4) to provide complex administrative or operational support with minimal supervision. May be responsible for overseeing other administrative staff or subordinates.
This role will serve as a key administrative partner to faculty leadership and multidisciplinary teams within the Pain Medicine Division, supporting a portfolio of clinical, research, and academic activities across the division and affiliated programs. The position plays a critical role in ensuring organizational alignment, continuity of operations, and effective execution of departmental and lab‑based initiatives.
This individual will function as a central coordination point across faculty, research staff, clinical operations, and external collaborators, often managing competing priorities across multiple active projects. Responsibilities include independently managing complex calendars of our Division and Clinic Chief and high‑volume scheduling for senior faculty; leading coordination of division meetings, research group meetings, and cross‑institutional collaborations; proactively tracking deliverables across research studies, grant cycles, and programmatic deadlines. The AA4 will also provide quality oversight to ensure consistency and efficiency across administrative functions. This is a highly visible role requiring discretion, strong organizational leadership, and the ability to operate as a trusted partner to faculty in advancing the division’s clinical, research, and educational mission.

The expected pay range for this position is $45.23 to $51.03 per hour.
