Midlands Technical College in South Carolina is seeking an Administrative Assistant for the HR Management office. You will be the first point of contact for employees, students, applicants, and the public, delivering professional service and administrative support.
The role supports temporary/adjunct employment, onboarding, records management, and compliance across multiple systems, while handling confidential information with discretion.

Job Responsibilities
The Administrative Assistant serves as the first point of contact for the Human Resource Management office, providing exceptional customer service and administrative support to employees, students, applicants, and the general public. This position plays a vital role in supporting HR operations through the coordination and processing of temporary and adjunct employment activities, onboarding functions, personnel documentation, and employment compliance processes. The Administrative Assistant maintains accurate employee records and data across multiple systems, manages high-volume communications and front desk operations, and ensures timely processing and distribution of HR-related information and requests. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, professionalism, and the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information in a fast-paced environment.
Review and process temporary/adjunct employment agreements and complete temporary/adjunct on-boarding actions, to include criminal background checks, new hire documents for temporary employees and returning re-hires, verification of identification documents for Federal Form I-9 compliance with USCIS, and correspondence to new employees, hiring personnel, etc. Promptly terminate temporary employees in all appropriate systems when necessary. Review employment related information to ensure the integrity of human resources data and compile reports as needed.
Be responsible for front desk duties to include answering and assisting with all incoming phone calls to the HRM front desk, receiving, logging, processing, and routing/distributing employment related documents to appropriate HRM personnel. Provide service excellence to employees, students, and the general public (in-person, by telephone, and/or e-mail). Maintain HR Admin e-mail account to include responding to and/or forwarding requests to necessary parties in a timely manner. Maintain Dynamic Forms portal throughout the day.
Accurately key employee information and data into the Colleague software system and organize/scan employee records/files into correct folders within the Etrieve system. Log and distribute personnel action requests/documents. Upload new employee information into SC DSS New Hire portal. Log and complete all employment verification requests to include Public Student Loan Forgiveness.
This position will be located on the Midlands Technical College Airport Campus.
Minimum And Additional Requirements
A high school diploma and work experience that is directly related to the area of employment. A bachelor's degree may be substituted for the related work experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Work well with others, multi-task, and take initiative. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Ellucian Colleague. Customer service oriented and professional demeanor with strict adherence to confidentiality. Must be able to sit and work on a computer for extended periods of time. Ability to lift up to 10 lbs.
